After losing a close friend to suicide, Matt is determined to break the stigma that keeps so many blokes silent. He knows how heavy it can feel to just “crack on,” and how brave it is to open up about what’s really going on.

For him, Lift the Load isn’t just a challenge. It’s a way to stand alongside people who are doing it tough, to remind them they don’t have to carry the weight alone.

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day.

This year’s theme is Changing the Narrative. Shifting from silence and stigma to openness and empathy.

For Lucy, one of our Youth Workers, this day is deeply personal. She lost a close friend to suicide as a teenager.

“Sometimes I see my friend in the young men I work with. I’m grateful I can start those conversations with them… perhaps even just plant the seed.”

Through her work, Lucy creates safe spaces for young men to open up – and today we recognise how vital these conversations are.

Over the weekend, our ambassador @kieranforan ran out for the final time, closing a remarkable 17-year career in the NRL.
